Madikwe Game Reserve is a malaria-free, 60,000-hectare Big Five reserve on the Botswana border, about three hours' drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria according to Parks North West. Most visitors stay at one of its private lodges, and it is known as one of the better places in South Africa to see African wild dog.
